Honest question: what value do you as a company expect to get from peoples' game pitches?

Re: Pitch your idea to my company
Mon, January 15, 2007 - 8:57 PMIt looks like they're offering free membership, so by all means, check out what's there. But I really hope people don't think it's a good idea to give an anonymous person/website their creative ideas for free.
For those people looking for game dev community sites, I can recommend:
* International Game Developers Association (igda.org) - mainly professional game developers, but afaik *the* main non-profit society for game developers. Most IGDA chapters have regular get togethers, which are free for anyone to attend (no membership required/checked). For those near San Francisco, the next one is Jan 31st.
* Garage Games (garagegames.com) - a great resource for independent game developers, including selling a really nice game engine, tools, and assets to indie developers at an incredibly low cost (considering the quality of products)
* GameInstitute.com - a resource for classes and community for students and indie's first learning about the industry and looking to meet/share ideas with similar people.
* and for web resources/info/job listings there is of course gamedev.net and gamasutra.com
Disclosure: I am a member of the above organizations but by no means have anything to gain by helping them. Just passing on my recommendations. If Sylien becomes something like those, I'll let people know that too. -
